This is a personal experience that proved to me the power that clothing can have on a person. This transformation has encouraged me to become a Personal Stylist, where I can and will help people.

I had gained some weight a while back and would only wear black leggings and large shirts.  I didn't have anything else that fit me and I truly thought it made me appear slimmer.  I was WRONG.  That “uniform” only gave me another 15 pounds within a month, since those leggings and oversized sweaters were creating more room to grow within.  After several months I got tired of feeling awful and decided to buy three pairs of non-stretch jeans to fit my larger body.  At that point, I stopped hiding in big clothes and started to work with what I had.  I dressed myself in the outfits that flattered my shape.   Positive results created better mood.  As soon as I gained confidence, even though I was still heavy, I started to miss my old clothing.  Now I was ready for a gym membership.  Only seven months later I was back in my ”before leggings” jeans.  My trick to not giving up was trying on my old jeans every two weeks to see my progress, which pushed me harder and showed me the power that clothing may have.  This journey made me realize that clothing affects physical appearance, which could influence moods, which could lead to weight gain, which could cause depression.  My mission is to teach and help clients to avoid that experience and to understand the power that clothing carries to show the world who we truly are within.
